Country Meadows At Home concludes home-care services on April 12, 2018

HERSHEY, Pa. (March 14, 2018)—Country Meadows Retirement Communities today announced that it will conclude Country Meadows At Home services as of April 12 due to diminishing staffing resources.

"It's very disheartening to me that we are unable to sustain Country Meadows At Home because we have assisted clients, some of whom have been relatives, neighbors and friends, for ten years," says Michael Leader-Country Meadows President & CEO. "We have been about quality care at Country Meadows for more than 30 years, and we take pride in being recognized as one of the best providers of senior living in our region."

While Country Meadows Retirement Communities offers various lifestyles and levels of care to residents living on 11 campuses, Country Meadows At Home provides homemaker, companion, transportation and personal care services to residents at select Country Meadows campuses to help them live as independently as possible.

Both Country Meadows Retirement Communities and Country Meadows At Home deliver quality care provided by compassionate, skilled caregivers. However, a critical difference between providing care to many residents in a retirement community versus one-on-one supplemental or temporary support when needed is the staff scheduling demands to ensure caregivers are available when and where they are needed, and that client hours are available for those caregivers. Meeting this ratio became a constant challenge.

Country Meadows At Home will continue to support their clients until the conclusion date while helping them find alternative services provided by reputable, licensed home-care agencies. And as a resident of Country Meadows, the campus teams can attend to any needs even if on a temporary basis.

Country Meadows At Home co-workers were invited to pursue into open positions at Country Meadows Retirement Communities campuses. Co-workers received a list of open positions, met individually with human resources staff members to discuss interests and needs, and may choose to work with Country Meadows Retirement Communities. Individuals choosing not to transition to Country Meadows Retirement Communities will be offered a full severance package. Country Meadows is assisting them in their transition. Country Meadows At Home employs full-, part-time and mostly PRN (as-needed) co-workers.

Services remain unchanged at Country Meadows Retirement Communities and its non-profit sister community, Ecumenical Retirement Community in Harrisburg, Pa.
